Car Wireless Charging Dock

After the introduction of wireless charging on the iPhone it became more rational to also introduce wireless charging dock and devices to your car or vehicle on the road.

Why not? A study showed that on average an American spends 100 hours per day on the road in his car driving. That is almost 2 hours per day. Therefore, a wireless charging dock or a wireless charging mount in your car for iPhone or other mobile device is no-brainer.

I personally spend about two hours per day driving and I have always used car iPhone car mounts or dash holders to hold my iPhone while driving.

As of today in October, 2018 there are not many cars or auto maker that have this feature built in the car yet, but as such technology mature more, and as more iPhones from Apple support wireless charging dock, this feature will become a standard in more cars. Combine this with wireless CarPlay, and you will have the ultimate iPhone hands free solution.

With Apple getting into the wireless charging and supporting the Qi wireless chargers, I expect more auto makers to adopt it and implement it along side wireless CarPlay.

Imagine the convenience of no cables or wires when you enter your car.

All what you have to do is mount your iPhone on a dock, or lay it on a wireless charging pad on your dashboard, or on the side counsel next to your seat of your car.

Although, not many cars has wireless charging dock, it is very easy to add one in your car. You can search between many different wireless charging mounts or wireless charging pads and simply plug them in your cigarette lighter port for charging, or a normal USB port in your car.

Wireless CarPlay has been supported on iPhones since iOS 9. However, it is not really popular except with high end cars from Mercedes, and BMW. I am pretty sure that it will become more popular and used in future coming vehicles.

Just like AirPlay where you can stream media from your iPhone to your Apple TV, it would be amazing if you can mirror or stream media to your car using CarPlay. Then, you would enter your car with your iPhone in your pocket, and immediately gets connected to your vehicle. Of course you can do this today through Bluetooth only.

All what you would have to do when you enter your car, is basically accept or acknowledge that your iPhone will be connected to your car through CarPlay, or maybe do nothing.

You just lay your iPhone on a pad or somewhere on your dash, and it would start charging, and streaming to your car.

The good news is that I did many research on this, and many wireless charging pads, can work in your car right away. You just need to find a spot in your car to lay this wireless charging dock device.

I have been using car mounts for my iPhones through the years. Car mounts are one of the best iPhone accessories you can buy for your iPhone or mobile device. I would just enter the car, and immediately mount my iPhone on the car mount. But then I have to plug it through a USB power in the car either through CarPlay which would display the CarPlay home screen in my car, and at the same time my iPhone would be charging.

If I have a wireless charging mount or a wireless charging dock, then I can cut that time by half. Then, all what I have to do is just mount my iPhone on the wireless charging mount, and be done. My iPhone would be connected to my car audio through Bluetooth though, as I am not going to be connecting it to the CarPlay through USB port.

Since I really don't care much about CarPlay specially that the car screen is only a home screen that doesn't play video for safety purposes anyways. I found that playing Video on my iPhone and just streaming the audio to the car speakers is all what I need and probably that would be what most people need also just the audio.
