iPhone Hands Free

iPhone hands free is a bluetooth profile that allows you to pair many available bluetooth headsets and devices so that you can hear your phone conversation from an external wireless speaker . One of the most useful iPhone accessory is a wireless bluetooth hands free speaker.

This wireless speaker could be a bluetooth speaker phone or even your car speaker. The idea is that when your iPhone is paired with any of those hands free bluetooth devices you can have an iPhone hand free phone conversation.

This simply means that you can talk aloud to your party without holding the iPhone in your hand.

Bluetooth Hands Free Devices:

Many third party bluetooth devices support the iPhone hands free capability. You can buy one that clips to the sun visor, or that plugs to the car cigarette lighter so that it is always powered.

Those portable bluetooth hands free devices work by first pairing with your iPhone and then entering a pin number which is usually 0000.

Once the pairing is done, there is no need to do it again. Anytime you are close to the paired device, your iPhone will pick it up, and establish a connection with it.

Therefore, When you receive a phone call, the device will ring, and you have to press a a button on the device to answer the phone call.

It is best to have the hands free device next to you. Maybe clipped to the sun visor, or attached to the steering wheel in your car.

Those bluetooth hands free devices need to be charged just like any electronics. Therefore, consider something that either works on solar power so it is charged while in the car or that plugs to the cigarette lighter so it is always powered.

A bluetooth handsfree feature can sometimes be incorporated in an iPhone car kit. An all-in-one unit that holds, charges, and transmits audio, and phone calls to your car stereo.

The initial pairing of all those handsfree devices should be done only once.

Then, once the devices are paired, the hands free device can be left in the car and the communication will be established automatically thereafter whenever you enter your car with your iPhone in your pocket.

I like the solar hands free devices, as they are charged automatically, and you never run out of battery.

Just stick the hands free device on your windshield so that it is always exposed to sun, and forget about charging.

Cars with built in iPhone hands free:

The iPhone hands free feature is best used if your car is equipped with bluetooth. If your car has bluetooth and you are not using it, then you are missing a lot.

The process works exactly the same as pairing any external bluetooth speaker phone. Once the pairing is complete, and a connection with your iPhone is established, then whenever you get a phone call, you will get a ring from your car speaker.

The pairing is also a one time process, you just do it once, and after that when ever you enter your car, the connection will be established automatically.

Once you get a phone call, you can press the talk button on your steering wheel to answer the call.

You can then hear your party aloud from the your car stereo without puling your iPhone from your bag, purse, or pocket.

This is the most important option to have in your car if you plan to buy a new car.

You would simply enter your car, mount your iPhone on those wireless charging docks and your iPhone will begin charging and streaming both music and hand free phone calls all at the same time.

Setting up iPhone hands free:

Setting up iPhone hands free is simple. Tap your settings on your home screen on your iPhone. Then tap General, and then Bluetooth.

A list of all your paired devices will show up. If you don't have any devices, then, once you turn your new hands free device on and set it to discovery mode, it will show up in the list as Not Paired. Just tap the found device in the list, and enter 0000 as your PIN using the numerical pad.

You shouldn't pair the device again as long as it is shown in your list of devices. If it is shown as "Not Connected" which usually means that the device is turned off, or not available. Once you turn it on, it will show as " Connected" without pairing it again as shown in the pictures below.
