iPhone Lightning Connection

I was very excited when I bought my iPhone 5. However, for about 2 weeks, I wasn't able to use any of my accessories that I used for all my previous iPhones.

One important accessory that I was missing is the audio connection kit in my two cars. I couldn't get the iPhone 5 sound to come throught the AUX connection through my car stereo. I used a bluetooth speaker that was powered by the car battery to overcome this problem.

Not only Apple changed the connection, but the convertors were not available for about 2 weeks, and the other problem is that those converters are expensive!

First, I had to buy a new USB to lightning cable just to keep it next to me and another one for work. Then, I had to buy the small 30 pin to 9 pin convertor for my cars.

But once all became available, everything is now good, but I wish Apple had included at least a convertor with each iPhone 5 purchase. Availability probably was a problem, but you could have had a receipt and get your convertor later.

Another thing is that Apple has the proprietary to make those cables. They have a chip inside the connection that prevents other third party manufacturers to make those types of cables without permission from Apple.

With all those bad things about the cost and availability. The lightning connection is definitely a nice connection, and much much better than the10 year old connection. The ability to insert it in any direction just rocks, and it feels more reliable and stable inside the iPhone 5. I like the lightning iPhone video out ability to be converted to almost anything you want like HDMI, VGA and others to come. I just think that Apple should have included a convertor with each iPhone 5.

What do you think? do you like the lightning connection? How long did you have to wait to get your accessories working, and is it working fine with you now? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
